cliffhangerThe second place Mets, don't you like the ring to that, I sure do, the only thing that will sound better will be is the First place Mets. (In Time) We have just won our sixth game in a row, first time since August of 2006. Putting a beat down on the Giants in a 7-3 victory. We held the Giants to nine hits and three runs in this three game series. We outscored them 19-3 and out hit them 32 to 9. This is something we haven't done all year, beat up on the little guys, this was a series we should have swept with no problem and that's what we did, we're gellin' right now. We now welcome the Colorado Rockies to Shea Stadium tomorrow night with "Ollie the great" taking the mound.

Fernando Tatis once again comes through in the clutch, this time getting the go ahead hit in the seventh inning with a two run home run to put us ahead 5-3. Tatis has been scorching hot in his last eight games. 11 for 22 a .500 batting average 3 HR 8 RBI. With Alou gone for the year you can expect Tatis to get a whole lot of playing time, well deserved playing time I might add.

John Maine continues to struggle, high pitch count, he had ten 3-2 counts through 4.2 innings, this is something that has been going on all year. Although he had eight strikeouts but he couldn't last through the fifth inning he was one strike away of getting out of the inning unscaved but he left a pitch up to Randy Winn who smacked it in the gap for two-run double that tied the game. Hopefully during the break he could get refocused and get some rest and comeback with a string second half.

WP: S. Schoenweis (1-2)
LP: S. Romo (0-1)

Todays win was a great one. Like I said earlier I feel if the Mets continue playing like they have these last couple of games, by the all star break we will be in 1st Place. smilies/grin.gif
